PPPP

In May of 2008, Monty’s Home received state approval to start its first Pawsitive Partners Prison Program (PPPP), in conjunction with a local correctional facility – the first companion dog prison program in Southeastern North Carolina!

Right now, we are busy readying the site for that first eight-week class – slated to begin September 15th 2008. The state generously provided funds to build kennels at the correction facility, BUT, Monty’s Home carries all other costs associated with the program – veterinary bills, grooming supplies, food, toys, bedding, leashes, collars, treats – anything having to do with proper canine care and training. This important program staffed completely by volunteer trainers exists only
THROUGH YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS!

How to Donate

After temperament evaluation and heartworm testing, our trainers will select five dogs from a local shelter. We’ll arrange to have them have them spayed / neutered, brought up to date on vaccinations, and enter them into the
Pawsitive Partners Prison Program.

Living at the facility with their specially screened inmate-trainers, the dogs go through an eight-week training course. The inmates, under the guidance of Monty’s Home volunteer trainers, train the dogs to AKC Canine Good Citizenship Certification standards. After graduation, the wonderfulness starts again for five more dogs!

Adoption Application

When a Monty’s Home dog joins his forever home he is heartworm negative, current on heartworm prevention and up to date with age-appropriate vaccinations. In addition, he’ll know the basic requirements for Canine Good Citizenship Certification, and comes complete with his own crate, bed, toys, leash, collar, a one-week supply of food and treats to help with the transition and a group training session with the new family.

Monty’s Home dogs are indeed turnkey companions.
