Thank you for visiting Monty's Home

Inspired by the love and generous spirit of Monty – a once-in-a-lifetime therapy dog that succumbed to cancer on October 6, 2006 – Monty’s Home is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, currently serving Southeastern North Carolina.

In May 2008, Monty's Home received state approval to start its Pawsitive Partners Prison Program (PPPP), the first companion dog prison training program in Southeastern North Carolina. Dogs from local shelters are temperament tested, spay/neutered and then enter prison for eight weeks of obedience training by specially selected inmates. Click Here to view a short training video.

Volunteers at Monty’s Home come from diverse backgrounds, but share a common bond. We strive to help pet owners deal with pet illnesses, geriatric ailments, end-of-life issues and parting grief. For more information Click Here.
The Pet Ed 101 Program is the third in a series of programs offered by Monty’s Home. The goal of this program is to teach students about humane and responsible treatment of animals, pet care, pet safety, basic training techniques as well as animal behavior and over population issues. “Creating Monty’s Home is a testimonial to the bond we share with our animals. Its foundation is the support, kindness and empathy of the volunteers who make up its core – the wonderful people Monty brought into my life.”
